Jejomar Bake Shop now open
On Sunday, March 28, 2010, Jejomar owners, Mila and Tony Lacqui, welcomed their customers to their new location at 237 McDermot Avenue. “We just opened and we are overwhelmed by the number of patrons who dropped in with their friends and families,” said Antonette Lacqui, one of the couple’s grown children who is now very much involved in operating the family business. “We are also accepting orders for cakes for all special occasions… it is very exciting because we are not only renewing acquaintances with our loyal customers but also meeting lots of new people!” said Maria, another Lacqui daughter who specializes in baking specialty cakes. In addition to traditional Filipino baked specialties such as pan de sal and ensaimada, Jejomar also offers sandwiches, cakes and light fare for the fast paced lifestyle of people who work at the Exchange District. It also has a dining area where people could meet their friends for coffee, snacks and dessert. The Lacqui family has been in the bakery business for decades. In July 2009, an electrical fire damaged the strip mall where the bakery was located causing the owners to search for another place to do business. “We are very happy to be here… and we thank all our customers and friends for supporting us,” said Mila Lacqui, beaming as she supervised the busy kitchen of the bakery and coffee shop.
