Midas    What drives you?

It was a day full of action and entertainment. If you have a passion for dance, music, gorgeous models, video game competitions and, of course, cars and trucks, the 2009 Driven Auto Culture And Tradeshow was the event to satisfy all of your cravings.
Mercedes Terrell, feature model presented by Speed Factor: “Life’s short, live fast, and die pretty.”

Dannie Riel, 21-year-old model originally from Winnipeg, now in B.C., was glad to see her hometown come to support her at the Phase One booth: “Lights out, party’s on!”

Vickar Mitsubishi and Speed Factor Inc. presented the only “lights off” event on the Driven tour, which was held at the Convention Centre on Saturday July 25. Eager automobile fanatics from all across North America showcased their cars’ interior, exterior, and, of course, the speed and power under their hoods.

Whether it was the Nissan Skyline GT-R, Audi A4, Saleen Mustang or the souped-up Civics, many were pleased by the types of automobiles represented under the low lights. Anthony of Speed Factor said it best: “Lights off gave you a little bit of the club feel where the mood was set for everyone.”

In continuing with the club feel, the day’s entertainment offered dance battles between local and guest dancers from Montreal. Local judges Cyril Ong from Shopgirl, Bboy Bootjester and Damecia from Define Movement judged the Winnipeg’s Best Dance Crew competition presented by Bundown Sound Systems and UMFM. Hip Hop group Assorted Goodies took the $500 grand prize and the title of Winnipeg’s Best Dance Crew while the group, Red Bouncy Toe from Montreal tore it up for the Winnipeg crowd to take the B-boy/girl battle. And if that wasn’t all, guests were also entertained with live performances by Filipino rappers, Barkada as they emceed the popular bikini contest.
