After barely four years in the sport of amateur bodybuilding, Winnipegger Arman Ayson is already competing at the national level. He placed sixth in the Canadian National Bodybuilding championship on August 22nd in British Columbia and he has qualified to compete in international events such as the World Qualifier, the North American Championships and the Arnold Amateur Classic.

“I started weightlifting and working out just after high school,” said Arman, “and after watching a couple of competitions I thought to myself that I could see myself up on stage. My goal is to continue to compete at a National level and place in the top three in my weight class.”

Arman’s first venture into competitive bodybuilding came in 2005 when he joined Team Manitoba and competed in the Manitoba Amateur Bodybuilding Association (MABBA) Novice Championships. Placing third, he advanced to the MABBA Provincials and placed fourth in that same year. It was all up from there. Arman placed first in the provincial lightweight category from 2006 to 2008.

By placing top five in the provincials Arman qualified to compete at the national level. He competed at the World Qualifiers in 2007 and 2008, placing 3rd and 2nd respectively.

Aside from the competitions, working out is part of Arman’s daily routine and healthy lifestyle.
