MANILA – The 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival is all set to start on Christmas Day and will run until January 7, 2010.

Executive Director Rollie Josef has announced the seven official entries, namely: Ang Darling Kong Aswang, I Love You Goodbye, Nobody Nobody But Juan, Mano Po 6, Panday, Shake, Rattle and Roll XI and Wapakman.

The traditional Parade of Stars will be on Dec. 24, wherein all the official entries will try to outdo each other in making their festival floats as elaborate as possible.

This time, the much-awaited December film festival is expected to be more dazzling than the previous years.

The Official Entries

Nobody, Nobody but Juan

Dolphy, The Philippines’ King of Comedy, showcases his remarkable versatility in his latest film. It features an all-star cast: Eddie Garcia, Gloria Romero, Eric Quizon, Vandolph, Epy Quizon, G Tongi, Pokwang and Heart Evangelista. Wowowee host Willie Revillame plays a special guest role as himself.

Ang Panday

Ang Panday is the good versus evil story of Flavio (Bong) and Lizardo (Phillip). The 2009 version of the Carlo J. Caparas original was written by RJ Nuevas and directed by Mac Alejandre.

Mano po 6

Megastar Sharon shares the screen with filmdom’s outstanding thespians like drama king Christopher De Leon, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Heart Evangelista, Dennis Trillo, Ryan Eigenmann, and Boots Anson-Roa with Kris Aquino in a special role.

Wapakman

Topel Lee directs this superhero movie entitled Wapakman. The science fiction comedy takes place during Christmas. Manny Pacquiao is the lead character, an ordinary man who developed super powers. The sexy comedienne Ruffa Mae Quinto is his leading lady. Nicole Scherzinger, lead singer of the group Pussycat Dolls, was originally the lead for the boxing champ, but was replaced by Ruffa instead due to conflict of schedule. WWE’s Batista (David Michael Bautista), is the villain in this film.

Shake, Rattle and Roll XI

This year’s cast includes an interesting mix of the Kapuso and Kapamilya Networks – Mark Anthony Fernandez and Maja Salvador for Diablo; Iya Villania, Rayver Cruz, Jennica Garcia and Mart Escudero for Lamanglupa; and Ruffa Gutierrez and Zoren Legaspi for Ukay-Ukay episode.

Ang Darling kong Aswang

After four installments of Enteng Kabisote and Iskul Bukol reunion movie, Vic Sotto and the gang are back with a new comedy film entitled Ang Darling Kong Aswang. This time, FHM sexiest pinay Cristine Reyes is bossing’s leading lady playing the title role.

I Love You, Goodbye

The film stars Gabby Concepcion, Angelica Panganiban, Derek Ramsay and Kim Chiu.

Panganiban plays the lead role with leading man Gabby Concepcion.
