Be a gift to others

“To lead a life as a gift to others is the best way to change the world,” according to Pope Francis’ Christmas message.

In a world where the accumulation of material things are often the measurement of success and happiness, we forget that a gift is not only limited to material things, but we can also give the gift of talent and time for others.

On December 13th, our group WPG ZINsistarZ, whose members are Zumba instructors, organized a food and cash drive for Winnipeg Harvest through a free Zumba class at the Philippine-Canadian Centre of Manitoba.

Despite the crazy traffic and hectic schedules in the midst of the holiday season, we are extremely grateful to all our friends and family who were able to come and support the event in many different ways.

Special thanks also to Angela Caron, Community Event Coordinator for Winnipeg Harvest, for assisting us with the food and cash donations.

Besides a fun Zumba class, attendees were also treated to some raffle prizes courtesy of each WPG ZINsistarZ member and our media partner, Pilipino Express News Magazine.

According to Angela, we were able to raise 80 lbs. of food plus the monetary donation!

Once again, thank you for your generosity! Your gift will go a long way to helping children, women and thousands of Manitoba families to have access to emergency food.
