WINNIPEG – Lito Taruc, CKJS radio news anchor and president of the Philippine Association of Manitoba, is in the running for a seat on Winnipeg’s City Council in the civic election to be held on October 27.

More than 50 supporters were on hand to greet Taruc as he arrived at the City Clerk’s office on Thursday, August 26, to register his candidacy in the ward of Daniel McIntyre.

“I didn’t expect so many to turn out, but I’m glad they did,” said Taruc.

According to Taruc, infrastructure, crime, graffiti, neighbourhood safety, lighting and police visibility are some of the issues on his campaign platform, which he plans to discuss with voters during his door-knocking campaign.
